Evelyn Frances Eischen was born April 21, 1930 to Mary (Holm) and Bartl Windschitl in Mulligan Township, Brown County. Evelyn grew up loving the farm life; the animals, the chores, the outdoors. She shared many fond memories with her sister, Mary. Her kind heart started early in life, leaving high school to take care of her ill mother. On November 22, 1955, Evelyn was united in marriage to Wilbert Eischen at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Their marriage was blessed with three boys – Glen, Michael, and David. She was a member of St. Pauls Church of Comfrey, The Christian Mothers, and The Noweta Garden Club. She worked as a teacher’s assistant at the St. Paul school for several years. She helped “the boys” at the Napa store for many years. Evelyn enjoyed children. She often watched relatives and neighborhood children telling of grand adventures and mishaps. She spent her time flower gardening, crocheting, reading, fishing, going to the lake, photography and developing photos, polka music and Sunday drives with Billy. The granddaughters were the highlight of her life. Visits nearly always included ham and jelly sandwiches along with coloring and so many toys. Home and family were everything to Evelyn.

Evelyn passed away peacefully at Sleepy Eye Medical Center February 28, 2024 with family by her side.

Evelyn is survived by sons – Glen, Mike, and Dave (Nancy) all of Comfrey; granddaughters, Amanda (Chris) Thompson of Watson, MN, and Amber Eischen of Comfrey; step grandson, Brandon (Hannah) Leen of Aurora, SD; sister-in-law, Betty Zwaschka of Sleepy Eye; step great grandchildren, Chandler, Ave & Sam Leen of Aurora, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wilbert/Billy; her parents, Mary and Bartl; sister Mary Rose Eischen and brother Jerome Windschitl.
