Carole Jean (Huhn) Brackee

Carole Jean (Huhn) Brackee of Amery, WI. passed away peacefully January 2 in her home with family present.

Carole, born and raised in New Ulm, was the eldest of three daughters of Irma A. (Grams) and Delmar W. Huhn. She was a 1961 graduate of New Ulm Public High School and had previously attended St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran School from Kindergarten through eighth grade.

Carole had been in hospice at home since July, cared for by her daughters and granddaughter, all of whom are Certified Medical Assistants.

She is survived by her husband Allan Kieth Brackee, whom she married in 1964, her daughters Jennifer Susan Lynch (Mike) and Tammy Lynn Brackee (Keith); grandchidren Hannah Goulet (Matt), and Cody Brackee; great granddaughter Annabelle; Izzie, her Jack Russell terrier; as well as sisters Linda Marie Huhn (Arvid Richard Johnson, deceased) and Susan Jane Huhn-Bowles (Warren), both of Minneapolis.

Carole was employed by Hartzel Manufacturing for many years. She loved living in rural WI., where she had many friends as well as the Brackee family around her. She was always up for games with anyone who was available, worked jigsaw puzzles, gardened, crocheted, loved animals and gave to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.

As a child her pronunciation of her name came out as “Kuckie,” and Delmar always called her “Kuckie.” Carole was a good dancer, Irma said because Delmar sang to her and held her while dancing when she was small.

Linda and Susan remember her as the horse-crazy sister who told them bedtime cowgirl stories with herself as heroine. Evenings, while babysitting for her younger sisters she told them they could make Rice Crispy treats as long as all was eaten and cleaned up before parents returned home.

As a teenager, she was in an Elvis Presley fan club, and still had all her Elvis records. Carole lived in the moment and was always ready for fun and spontaneity. We are missing her and her uniqueness. Please direct any memorials to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
