Ernest “Ernie” Harold Kalk
NEW ULM–Ernest “Ernie” Harold Kalk, age 73, of New Ulm died on November 5, 2023, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis after an accident that occurred at his home. A private family prayer service will be held at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-North Chapel in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the Soldier’s Rest section of the New Ulm City Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. A Public Celebration of Life Service will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Turner Hall in New Ulm with Pastor Nate Scharf leading a prayer service at 4 p.m. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family with arrangements at this time. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynnda Kalk of New Ulm; his sons, Jay Kalk of Minneapolis, Joshua Kalk of New Ulm, Dan Kalk of New Ulm; his 7 grandchildren; his sisters, Phyllis Balko of Redwood Falls, Janice Thorson of Eagle Bend, Jolene Meierding of Eagle Bend; his brother, David Kalk of Medford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Harold Kalk; his daughter-in-law, Eden “Bliss” Kalk; and his brother-in-law, David Meierding.
