NEW ULM–Roger D. Blomquist, age 81 of New Ulm passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Roger is survived by his son, Jerry “Jughead” Geiger Jr.; his daughters, Lynn (Bob) Montgomery, Lori (Amanda) Geiger, Stacey (Pam) Neathery, Katie (Justin Holberg) Geiger; family, Gary (Sharon) Blomquist, Lois Schwartzman, Donna (Frank) Brazil, Ella (John) Zimmermann, Mary (Richard) Krosch, Jim (Diane) Thomas, Melvin (Sandi) Thomas, Irene (Bernie) Blank, Carri (Brian) Roerish, Terri Anderson, Deborah (Dennis) Shaffer; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine Blomquist; sister, Doris Brazil; mother and father-in-law, Clyde and Helen Thomas, brothers-in-law, Robert and Clyde Jr., Alan Schwartzman, Danny Anderson; sisters-in-law, Linda and Sharon; nephew, Chad Louis Thomas his beloved pets, Ponte and Patsy.

Roger D. Blomquist was born March 12, 1942, in Willmar, MN to Bertel and Lorna (Jahnke) Blomquist. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1960. After High School Roger worked for Super Sweet and Finger Hut until he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1963 until he was honorably discharged in 1966. After his time in the military he worked at Martin Luther College until his retirement in 2005. He met the love of his life, Maxine Thomas at the Office Bar in 1976. The couple was united in marriage on May 23, 1981, in New Ulm where the couple made their home. Roger was blessed in life with five step children whom he loved and enjoyed every moment he got to spend with them and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roger also enjoyed watching trains, fishing and collecting die-cast cars. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him, but countless cherished memories will forever stay in their hearts. Blessed be those memories.
