Ann Marie (Heggerston) Julien

NEW ULM– Ann Marie Julien, age 84, passed away peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on September 8, 2023.
Ann was born April 27, 1939, in Ann Township to Harry and Verna Heggerston. She grew up on the family farm which was just outside of Walnut Grove, MN and attended Walnut Grove High School. After graduation, she attended Augustana College and earned her LPN Nursing Degree through Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She later worked at Highland Manor Nursing Home and Union Hospital, both in New Ulm. When she retired from nursing, she worked for Nutrisystem as a weight loss consultant and cleaned houses with her sister-in-law Mary.
Ann met Lloyd Dwayne Julien on a blind date that was set up by her friend and his cousin, Sharon Olson. They married on February 14, 1960, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove and were married just shy of 60 years when Dwayne passed away on October 14, 2019. Together they had two daughters, Kristine, born November 1960 and Kari, born November 1962. Ann was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served on many committees throughout her life. Ann enjoyed crocheting, baking, traveling, and reading, but most of all she treasured time with her family and friends.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband Dwayne, daughter Kristine, parents, Verna and Harry, and brother-in-law Roger.
Ann lives on in the hearts of her daughter Kari (Mark) Lea; grandchildren Erin (Drew) Seifert, Jenna (Aaron) Grubisch, Tim (Beth) Haberman, Caitlin (Hank) Boyle, Connor (Brooke) Boyle, Megan Boyle; bonus grandchildren Courtney (Joseph) Pullar, and Colin Lea; great-grandchildren Logan, Madison, Charles, Daxton, Emery, Myles, Mara; bonus great-granddaughter Anastasia; brothers Harris (Rhonda) and Robert (Jeanette) Heggerston; sisters-in-law Mary Julien, Marlys Heggerston, and brother-in-law Glen (Sharon) Julien; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is planned for September 23rd at our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at New Ulm Cemetery and lunch will be served at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
