Verne F. Schmitz, 83, of Cokato, MN, formerly of Springfield, passed away on October 8, 2020, surrounded by family.

Mass of Christian burial; August 19th, 2023, 10:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waverly, MN. Visitation 9:00-10:15 before mass. Private interment will be in Iowa.

Verne was born to Ralph and Loyola (Filzen) Schmitz in Springfield. Verne and Monica (Goche) Schmitz were united in marriage on January 15, 1963, and blessed with four children.

Verne is survived by children Lee, Daphne, Lonn (Michele) Schmitz, Vonnie (Curtis) Wareham; grandchildren Logan, Layton, Elijah Schmitz, Skyler (Tara), Calli, Caden Wareham; sisters Gladys Feser, Bonnie (Jim) Schumacher; brother David (Linda) Schmitz; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Verne was preceded in death by wife Monica; son-in-law Behzad “Ben” Sheikhpour; parents Ralph, Loyola Schmitz; parents-in-law Walter, Adeline Goche; brother Floyd, wife Marilyn Schmitz; brother Dennis, wife Mary Schmitz; brother-in-law Richard Feser.
