NEW ULM–Peggy Muklebust, 83, of New Ulm died Monday, July 24, 2023 at Ridgeway on German surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m.Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm with Pastor Phil Schenck officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 – 4 p.m. Sunday and 10 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home South Chapel in New Ulm.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Randi Jo (Mike) English of Lake George, Melanie (Victor) Klassen of New Ulm; sons, Craig (Gwen) Muklebust of Delano, Bret (Lori) Muklebust of Bemidji, Kelly (Julie) Muklebust of Savage, Kyle (Christie) Muklebust of New Ulm; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Kramer of Two Harbors, Linda (Bill) Kuchta of Two Harbors and Mary (Terry) Simola of Iron; brother, Randy (Barb) Merritt of West Hope, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Merritt; husband Douglas; a sister, Elaine Rollins; and by her brothers, Roger, Roy and Robert “Muzz” Merritt.

Peggy Ann Merritt was born July 16, 1940 in Danbury, Wisconsin to John and Betty (Folley) Merritt. She was a graduate of Two Harbors High School and attended North Central Bible College. Peggy was united in marriage to Douglas Muklebust on July 16, 1960 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Peggy was a stay at home “Mom” and loved raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren, and volunteering at church.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Ridgeway memory Care or to the donor’s choice.
