Edward Michael Wendinger

Oct. 10, 1949-Nov. 18 2022

NEW ULM–E d w a r d M i c h a e l Wendinger was welcomed through the gates of heaven on November 18, 2022 after a two-year battle with cancer. Ed was born on October 10, 1949 in New Ulm to Gilbert & Helen ( K i r b y ) Wendinger.

Ed loved all things Minnesota and enjoyed spending time on the family farm in New Ulm, cheering on the Vikings and the Twins. Ed graduated with a business degree from St. Ambrose University. Ed retired from JR Short Milling and owned Wendinger Construction for 47 Years. Ed loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren more than anything. Ed enjoyed gardening, hunting, going on Mission trips to Red Bird Mission, volunteering at church, visiting with his friends, his small group & using his “fix it” skills to help other people. If Ed wasn’t laughing, Ed was uplifting you. Ed’s legacy will carry on through the young lives he touched through coaching, his mission work and teaching the construction trade to his workers.

Ed married Debra Harpin on July 23, 1977. He is survived by his wife, five sons Aaron (Errin), Jason (Amy), Matthew, Phillip (Jenny) and Robert (Jacqueline) along with one daughter Brandy (Tim). Ed was the proud Papa to Zoey (Carlo), Libby (Billy), Claira (Andrew), Isabella, Brady, Hayden, Ava, Alexa, Levi, Jacqueline, Alex, Luke & Matthew. He had a special bond with his great-granddaughter Mia. Ed is also survived by his sister Patty (Jeff) Bedell, in-laws Ron & Sue Harpin, Donald Richmond, sister-in-law Paula (Marvin) Senesac, Gina (Darrin) Holmes, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas, Grandparents and Mother-In-Law Carla Richmond.

Ed fought so hard the last two years, but through this journey lived his unwavering faith out loud. He read his Bible daily, studied his devotionals and trusted that God was using this journey to touch other people and lead them to Jesus. Ed’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at The Cancer Center of America in Zion, The Riverside Infusion Center and the circle of friends who supported us throughout this journey.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. funeral mass on Saturday, July 15th at St. George Catholic Church, 63105 Fort Rd, New Ulm, MN 56073. Interment will be held at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Red Bird Mission or charity of donor’s choice.
