LaVone Martha Lorentz was born August 15, 1934 to Nicholas and Marie (Kubishak) Lorentz in Mankato. She graduated from Nicollet High School in 1952 and went on to graduate from Mankato Commercial College shortly after. On April 21, 1954, LaVone was united in marriage to Wallace Clayton Johnson in North Mankato. Their union was blessed with four children, all of whom were raised on the family farm in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County. LaVone dedicated her life to raising her children and helping Wally on the farm. She also stayed active as a 4H leader, den mother for Cub Scouts, and a agricultural exchange student host for many students over the years. LaVone was especially involved at St. Gregory the Great in Lafayette, where she was the head of the CCW, instructed the religious education program, a Eucharistic minister, and parishioner. In her free time, LaVone enjoyed gardening, putting puzzles together, traveling abroad with Wally, and spending time with her family. Many treasured memories were made at the Prairie House in Gaylord where she was referred to as “Grandma,” going to Scandinavia with Wally, and all the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As her health began to fade, she moved from Lafayette to the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop for ten years, and then to the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter until she passed away. LaVone will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.

The family of LaVone would like to thank the Cathedral staff and lunch crew, the Benedictine Living Community staff, and the Good Samaritan Society Staff for all their care over the years.
