Daniel George Dietz was born March 28, 1930, in Pierz, Minnesota-Morrison County to Alfred and Catherine (Jutz) Dietz. The family later moved to southern Minnesota, where Dan was a 1949 graduate from the New Ulm High School. He was united in marriage to Bernice Zollner on September 7, 1954, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. This union blessed the couple with two sons and a daughter whom together they raised on their farm in Cottonwood Township. Danny worked his entire life as a dedicated crop and livestock farmer. There was very little he couldn’t do, and was always there to help out any family member or neighbor in need. When Danny wasn’t working on the farm, as an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time hunting in the woods, or spending time on the waters fishing. Many great memories were made over the years on fishing trips “up north” with his family. He also enjoyed to travel when he could. Danny was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. He served over 25 years singing with the church choir, and was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. Danny was with the Knights of Columbus for over 72 years, and had been a 4th degree Knight for over 50 years. Danny took great pride in his faith and his farm, but what he took the most pride in was his family. He enjoyed every moment he got to spend with them, and especially loved getting to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Blessed be his memory.
