NEW ULM — Mary K. Hartten, age 79, of New Ulm passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Father Josh Bot will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. The Christian Mother’s will pray the rosary at 4pm on Sunday at the Cathedral.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Catherine and Christine Hartten of New Ulm and her son, Randy (Ron Lotz) Hartten of Minneapolis; sister, Barbara Pagel of Winthrop; brother, Vernon (Barbara) Bieraugel Jr. of Kailua, HI; and several loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Hartten; son-in-law, Bashir Stamboulieh; and her brothers, Scott and Jeffery Bieraugel; step-mother, Arlene Bieraugel, and brother-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Pagel.

Mary Kathryn Bieraugel was born April 13, 1944, in New Ulm to Vernon and Arline (Penkert) Bieraugel. She was from the Holy Trinity Cathedral Class of 1962. She was united in marriage to James Hartten on February 20, 1960, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. This union blessed the couple with two daughters and a son whom together they raised in New Ulm. Her children were her greatest joy. Through her work at Herberger’s and 3M, she developed many lifelong friendships. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her immediate and extended family. She will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Blessed be her memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Divine Providence Community Home of Sleepy Eye or New Ulm Area Catholic Schools.
