Fredrick Bianchi III

Fredrick Bianchi III, age 83 of New Ulm died on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Sleepy Eye Care Center surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in St. George with Father Gerald Meidl celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the St. George Catholic Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Visitation will be at St. George Catholic Church from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the Mass. Following the burial services, lunch will be served at St. George School gym.

Fred was born on June 10, 1939 in New Ulm to Marie and Fredrick Bianchi II. He grew up on a farm near St. George. He attended St. George Catholic School and graduated from New Ulm Public High School. Fred was active in showing cattle for the FFA and earned his American Farmer degree. He also played amateur baseball as a catcher for St. George and Stark. Following high school, Fred worked at Schell’s Brewery in New Ulm before taking over the family dairy farm in St. George known as Black Eagle Farm.

On October 6, 1960 Fred was united in marriage to Marianne Mildred Hillesheim at St. George Catholic Church. Fred loved trap shooting, playing cards, the Minnesota Twins, fishing, Holstein and Brown Swiss cows, and John Deere everything. His favorite hobbies were playing the concertina and wood carving. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include: His wife Marianne Bianchi; eight children: Brenda (Rodney) Smith of St. Croix Falls, WI, Bonnie (John) Mohr of Glencoe, Becky (Paul) Waibel of Searles, Belinda (Scott) Ash of Milaca, Barbara (Scott) Clayton of Celina, TX, Beverly (Scott) Williams of Chesapeake, VA, Fred (Laura) Bianchi of New Ulm, Betsy (Jay) Chambers of Medford; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and siblings: Elayne Hoffmann and Mary Ann Seifert.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Jerome & LaVerne Bianchi.
