Gerald “Jerry” F. Wilfahrt

Gerald “Jerry” F. Wilfahrt, age 87, of New Ulm, died Friday, January 6, 2023 at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel in New Ulm. Father Gerald Meidl will officiate and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Terry (Tom) Bleakley of Lake Crystal and Brenda Tess of Mankato; sons, Mike of New Ulm and Dave (Becky) of Courtland; special friend, Gloria Vreeman; brothers, Howard (Christine) Wilfahrt and Erv (Nancy) Wilferd; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Sandra Wilfahrt; his parents; and brothers, Eugene and Stanley.

Gerald Francis Wilfahrt was born on August 18, 1935 in New Ulm to Charles & Edith (Koopmann) Wilfahrt. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953. Jerry was united in marriage to Barbara Jessop on September 7, 1955 in New Ulm. Jerry worked for Schell’s Brewery, owned the Deep Rock gas station, and spent many years at Wallner Construction. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at his cabin in Park Rapids, sitting around the campfire, playing cards, working outdoors, watching birds, playing softball, and tinkering on the piano and guitar.
