Richard Murphy, age 82, of New Ulm died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022 at New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel.

Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Murphy of New Ulm; son, Brian (Allie) Murphy of New Ulm; grandchildren, Nathan Murphy and Logan Murphy; step-grandchildren, Michael Schmidt and Jacob Schmidt; sister, Margaret Bisson of Oklahoma City, OK; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat Murphy and Dennis Murphy; sisters, Jane Murphy and Mary Ellen Murphy.
Richard was born March 12, 1940 in Glencoe to Urban and Alice Mae (Courtney) Murphy. He graduated from Glencoe High School. On June, 11, 1966 Richard was united in marriage to Diane Clyne at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. The couple was blessed with one son. Richard worked his entire career at 3M, until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed football, basketball, and baseball, but most of all, spending time with his family. Richard was a longtime member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. Religion and his faith were always very important to him. He was a good hearted husband, father, and friend and will be dearly missed.
