She was preceded in death by her husbands, Victor Stark, Leo Schumacher, Arlin Jungkans; her parents; sons, Glenn Stark and a son in infancy; and her siblings, Geraldine Wendler and Phyllis Friedrich.

Gloria A. Maha was born July 3, 1927 to George Sr. and Alice (Striech) Maha in Mulligan Township, Minnesota. She was the oldest of five children and attended county school near Lamberton. As a young teen, she was an aide at St. John’s Nursing Home in Springfield. On Nov. 30, 1944, Gloria was united in marriage to Victor Alvin Stark. The couple worked at the WearWell Garment Factory in New Ulm and farmed. Their union was blessed with eight children. While Gloria was pregnant with their last child, Victor passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 1964. Gloria moved her young family to New Ulm to be closer to her family. While raising her family, she baked and sold fresh bread, loomed rugs, tended a large garden, and worked part time at Tillman’s Bakery in New Ulm. On Jan. 20, 1970, Gloria was united in marriage to Leo C. Schumacher and the remainder of her family moved to the Comfrey area and helped on the farm. Gloria daily milked one jersey cow and became known for her freshly churned butter. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and tending a large garden. Leo passed away on May 14, 1983 and shortly after Gloria relocated to New Ulm. In time, Gloria remarried to Arlin Jungkans on Oct. 31, 1987 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the couple lived together on Arlin’s hobby farm. As a couple they did volunteer work at the Treasure Haus, especially enjoyed fishing and traveling. Arlin passed away on November 9, 2013. Gloria continued living in New Ulm until December of 2019 when she became a resident of Glen Oaks in New London. Gloria lived a long, faith filled life. She instilled a love for Jesus, along with a good worker ethic in all her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
