Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm. Pastor Nathan Scharf will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm.

Carol is survived by her sisters, Bonnie (Bruce) Hulke of Courtland and Laurie (Gordon) Bernardy of St. Peters, MO; daughter, Sandy (John) Sutcliffe of Stanchfield, MN; son, Bruce Moore of WI; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Laura Richter; and her grandparents, Fred & Ella Wieland and Clarence & Erma Wieland.

Carol Jean Richter was born on Oct. 16, 1948 in New Ulm to Harold & Laura (Wieland) Richter. She attended New Ulm public schools. Carol then moved to Mankato where she attended adult workshops. She then moved to South Dakota where she was a daycare provider in her home. The last year she resided at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Carol’s love for children was shown as a wonderful childcare provider. Her love for animals, especially dogs and cats, made her so happy when she interacted with them. She loved cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.
