NEW ULM — Douglas J. Rono, 72, of New Ulm passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home South Chapel.

He is survived by his daughter, Alison Rono, of Brandon, FL; grandchildren, Christian and Ava Cruz, Brandon, FL; Ex-wife and good friend, Kim Rono, of New Ulm; sisters, JoAnn Vincent, of Hugo, Jean (Joe) Soukup, of Sleepy Eye, and many extended friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Rono and nephew Thor Haas.
Douglas John Rono was born in Sleepy eye and graduated from St Mary’s in 1969, after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he spent three years serving our country as a Sergeant. Doug dedicated his working years, from 1975 to 2012 to Kraft Foods and retired after 37 years. Doug was well known for his love for cars and infamous garage where he loved to have company over for “a few beers and to shoot the bull.” He enjoyed his grandchildren, family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
