Kenneth Foss

Kenneth Foss, age 72, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating. The New Ulm Battery will honor Ken at the New Ulm City Cemetery following the funeral. Burial will take place at a later date in North Dakota.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-NORTH chapel and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at church. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guest book, go to: www.mvfh.org.

Ken is survived by his children, Thea (Travis Stanton) Spillane of New Ulm, Matthew (Tessa) Foss of Chaska and Nicole (Joe) Ibberson of New Ulm; grandchildren, Reed, Jarret, Lila, Taylor, Morgan, Matea, Kaleb and Sam; sister, Lenore (Jim) Shimota of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; brothers, Gavin (Helen) Foss of Maddock, North Dakota and David (Caroline) Foss of Brainerd; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters; sister, Elaine Erickson; brother-in-law, Joub Erickson; and nephew, Curtis Foss.

Kenneth Earl Foss was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Maddock, North Dakota, to Edward and Crystal (Wick) Foss. Ken graduated high school and attended trade school in Iowa. He married Teresa Schow in New Ulm and together raised their three children. They later divorced. Ken was a cobbler for much of his life. He owned and ran Ken’s Boots and Shoe in New Ulm. Later, he was a chef for some time but always was a handyman. He was a jack of all trades and liked making or fixing things. In his spare time, he also enjoyed woodworking. Ken had a lifelong passion of participating in the New Ulm Battery and their activities. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the New Ulm Battery. Ken was a kind man who loved time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
