Esther Windschitl
Esther Windschitl, age 75, of Comfrey, Minnesota, died on Aug. 7, 2022, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center, St. James.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue on Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth, Minnesota, on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022. at 10:30 a.m.
The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl.
Interment will be at Japanese Martyrs Catholic Cemetery in Leavenworth.

Esther was born on Sept. 23, 1946, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the daughter of Clement and Hilda (Domeier) Hoffman. She attended District #28 country school in rural Sleepy Eye. Esther was united in marriage to Marvin Windschitl on Oct. 31, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home and farmed in Mulligan Township. Esther was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, where she was active in the CCW and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin of Comfrey; sons, Roman of Mankato, Leon (Denise) of Worthington; son-in-law, Tim Anderson of Comfrey; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosemary Franta of New Ulm, Chucky (Violet) Hoffman of Aurora, Colorado and Paul (Eileen) Hoffman of Hanska; and sisters-in-law, Doris Hoffman of Searles and Rhony Hoffman of New Ulm. Esther is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Marie Windschitl and Monica Anderson; brothers, Pat and Clem; and brother-in-law, Cletus Franta.
