Lucille E. Schmiesing
Lucille E. Schmiesing (Kral), age 101, of New Ulm, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Father Jerry Meidl will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, and continue from 9-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-North Chapel in New Ulm.

Lucille Elsie Kral was born on Dec. 11, 1920, in Sigel Township, Minnesota, to Harry Sr. and Frances (Fischer) Kral. Lucille never graduated high school but received an education in nursing through the Union Hospital in New Ulm. During WWII, Lucille worked locally as a nurse, and later served as a nurse for 12 years in St. James. When her husband became injured, she changed careers and worked at 3M in New Ulm, working in the molding department while nursing on the weekends. She continued her nursing career making house calls to the elderly until she was 93. Lucille was united in marriage to Charles Schmiesing on July 16, 1945. They had two children, Gary and Renee. Lucille was a dedicated member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo with her friends, going to the casino, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and feeding her two favorite dogs, Bella and Sofie.
Lucille is survived by her son, Gary (Patti) Schmiesing of Backus, Minnesota; daughter, Renee (friend Roger) Guyer of North Mankato; grandchildren, Sheila Dauer, Gary Schmiesing Jr., Gena (Lonnie) Haynes, Julie (Donnie) Schuelke, Lisa (Roger) Schuelke, Marci (Mike) Jasper, Matt Schmiesing; great-grandchildren, Shannon (Daniel) Szupica, Kristen (Brandon) Thomas, Jon (friend Adria) Olsen, Cassie (Braydon) Jerve, Karen (friend Trevor) Dauer, Carter Schuelke, Josh Schuelke, Logan Schuelke, Cody Schuelke, Makie Schuelke, Hunter Jasper, and Hayden Jasper; great-great-grandchildren, Hailey Rode, Hannah Rode, Kaiden Olsen, Landon Thomas, Amayha Thomas, Kaleb Szupica, Paxton Thomas, and Brynlee Schmidt; brother, Harry Kral Jr. of Hanska; sister-in-law, Anna Kral of Sleepy Eye; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Schmiesing; grandson, Donnie Schuelke IV; infant granddaughter; brother, Leo Kral; and sister-in-law, Lonita Kral.
