New Ulm -- Bill Seemann, 82, of New Ulm peacefully passed away at his home in the warm embrace of his family on Feb. 3. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Bill was born on July 14, 1938 to Cora and Amor Seemann. Bill is survived by his wife Joanne of New Ulm. They were blessed to be married for 63 years. They had 5 children. Todd (Jodi) Seemann of Cass Lake, Keri (Keith) Doetkott of Arlington, Kimi (Doug) Pomplun of Fairfax, Troy (Kim) Seemann of Hutchinson, and Kathi Lietzau. They have 15 gandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also survived by one brother Dennis (Claudia) Seemann of Edina and one sister Jane (Jim) Krzmarzick of Owatonna.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Amor and Cora Seemann, and his brother Steve who passed while defending our country in the Vietnam war.
Bill worked in the lumber industry most of his life doing blueprints and figuring out what lumber was needed within 1%. For the last 20 years he worked for Ace Hardware. He would work summers in Sleepy Eye, and the winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. His interests included collecting stamps, coins, antique toys and hunting of any kind. He continued to hunt until his last years. His meal of choice for every outdoor hunt was ground pickle and bologna sandwiches. If he had a bowl of chili by his side, a beer in his hand, and a book to read he was a "happy man."
He is now walking the roads of heaven with his 4-legged girls, Maddie, and Maggie. One of his most profound moments was going from being a cancer patient to being a cancer volunteer at the New Ulm Medical Center. Bill believed family was always to be first. He was a kind and loving man. His wonderful sense of humor and "one liners", always filled the room whenever family gathered, even during his final moments. He will be missed by all who knew him. "Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts."
