Lloyd and Inez Huebner

Married for almost 70 years, Lloyd and Inez Huebner passed into glory within 24 hours of each other. Lloyd Otto Huebner was born on March 7, 1925 in Manitowoc, WI to Carl and Erna Huebner. He died on Dec. 8, 2020, in Milwaukee, WI. He married Inez Wahl on June 17,1951. Lloyd served as an assistant instructor at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN; as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Akaska,SD and St. James Lutheran, Tolstoy, SD; as pastor at St. John’s Lutheran, Wood Lake, MN; as first principal and teacher at Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills, WI and vacancy pastor at St. John’s, Ixonia, WI; as Dean of Students (1967- 1980) and then President (1980 – 1993) of Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN; and as a 3-time assistant civilian chaplain for Europe based in Germany. In retirement he served as a vacancy pastor at Christ the Lord, Brookfield, WI.

Inez Frieda (Wahl) Huebner was born on February 24, 1928 in Watertown, WI to John and Viola Wahl. She died on December 9, 2020 in Milwaukee, WI. After high school she was employed by Wisconsin National Bank in Watertown, WI. In 1951, she married Lloyd Huebner. While raising 5 children, she was the secretary at Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills, WI where Lloyd was the principal. While living in New Ulm, MN she worked at NUSCO Securities and State Bond Mortgage Company.

Lloyd was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Inez was preceded in death by 1 brother. They were both preceded in death by 1 infant daughter, Jean. They are both survived by 5 children: Janet Knobloch (Ernie) of Oak Creek, WI; Pastor James Huebner (Anne) of Wauwatosa, WI; Barbara Beltrand (Mark) of Plymouth, MN; Pastor David Huebner (Becky) of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Gary Huebner (Denise) of Gainesville, VA; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN or to Grace Lutheran Church, 1209 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202. A celebration of life service is being planned for June, 2021.
