Jo Knutson

Jo Knutson

The Treasure Haus, The Lind House, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Turner Ladies lost an enthusiastic volunteer when Jo (Kiefer) Knutson began her battle with Alzheimer’s in 2012. Jo lost her fight and passed away peacefully on Dec. 22 at the age of 86.

Jo loved her family and friends, golf, bridge, antiques, the city of New Ulm, a rich chocolate malt and a good whisky seven in a tall glass. Jo was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, long-time New Ulm pharmacist. She is survived by her children: Tom Knutson and wife Cheryl of North Carolina, Jody Lund and husband Jed of Plymouth and Lisa Backer and Darren Kermes of Lakeville, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jo was a graduate of Sleepy Eye High School and Mankato State University. She worked for Kraft foods for 25 years, retiring as a production supervisor in 1992. Jo had a passion for antiques and a good auction. She enjoyed a second career, buying and selling her treasures at Antiques Plus. Jo’s family is grateful for a lifetime of wonderful memories, for Jo’s many friends and for the caregivers who brought comfort in recent years.

In passing, Jo’s children picture her joining her husband on heaven’s first tee box or joining friends at bridge. Deal her in, Lord. A private burial is planned. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. www.alz.org
