New Ulm Police Took a theft report at 6:18 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart Supercenter. Store security employees stopped the attempted theft of a shopping card full of merchandise in the store. A list of stolen items was not available. Took a vandalism report at 8:34 p.m. Friday at 1301 State St. South. A 19-year-old New Ulm man was arrested for alleged criminal damage to property after a residence door and several windows and a car window were broken. A damage estimate was not available.

New Ulm Police Received a two-vehicle injury crash report at 3:18 p.m. Thursday. A 2007 Honda motorcycle driven by Tyrell Galetka, 30, St. Peter, was eastbound on 7th North, approaching Minnesota Street when it collided with a 2000 GMC Jimmy driven by Cassandra Calbick, 24, New Ulm, who was southbound on Minnesota Street after stopping for a stop sign. Galetka was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with moderate to severe injuries. Damage was moderate to the motorcycle and minor to the GMC.

Brown CountyDistrict Court Shannon M. Diaz, 36, 504 1st St. North, New Ulm, was charged Wednesday with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree marijuana possession-not small amount of marijuana. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were on patrol at 12:48 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at First St. South and Broadway they saw a small, black Audi that was northbound on Broadway with very dark, almost black windows. New Ulm Police Received a two-vehicle accident report at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Ave. and Westridge Road. A 2001 Ford Ranchero driven by David Schrimpf, 68, New Ulm, was northbound on Highland Ave. collided with a 2002 Buick Electra driven by Clarence Borgheiinck, 85, Winthrop.Both drivers wore seat belts. Borgheiinck was transported to New Ulm Medical Center for non-related medical issues. Damage was moderate to the Borgheiinck car and minor to Schrimpf's car.

Redwood County Sheriff's Office Received a complaint of a fire at an abandoned house at 8 a.m. Wednesday from Lee French on his property in Section 31, Charlestown Township, about three miles southeast of Lamberton. The fire happened during the early morning hours Wednesday. Total value of the loss is unknown. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 507-637-4036.
