New Ulm Police • Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:11 p.m. Friday at 20th South and Broadway. A 2020 Hyundai Tucson driven by Katherine Lynn Botten, Hanska, was exiting the Hy-Vee parking lot, facing east at a stop sign. A 1990 Peterbilt semi driven by Robert Lee Hamsmith, 51, Ringsted, Iowa was southbound on Broadway with the right of way. Botten pulled out in front of the truck and tried to turn left, going southbound when the vehicles collided. Damage was severe/disabling to the Hyundai and moderate to the semi. A possible minor injury was reported. Both drivers wore seat belts.

A 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Izzabella Higgins, 15, New Ulm, lost control while westbound, hit a tree on 1st North, backed up and hit the front end of a parked, unoccupied 2011 GMC Yukon. Damage was moderate to the front of the GMC and moderate to the front and rear of the Pontiac. Higgins sore a seat belt. Minnesota State Patrol • Responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71, Sanborn, Redwood County at 7:57 a.m. Jan. 15. A 1999 Peterbilt semi driven northbound by Chad Robert Lee Bonin, 32, Franklin; and a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse driven northbound by Daine Marie Arnsdorf, 75, Sanborn collided. Arnsdorf was transported to North Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Bonin was not injured. Bonin did not wear a seat belt. It was unknown if Arnsdorf wore a seat belt. New Ulm Police • Took a skip scanning report from Walmart at 7:36 p.m. Monday.  A 31-year-old New Ulm women did not scan three items, totaling $27.44.  Officers are waiting to hear back from the women before making a decision about charges.
