New Ulm Police Department
• Friday at 3:05 p.m. police responded to Highland Avenue and Oak Street for disturbance calls. A 66-year-old Sleepy Eye man lost his temper over a student refusing to pick up garbage the student had thrown out their window. No physical altercation occurred.
• An unidentified hit and run was reported Saturday at 1:11 p.m. at the block of 100 North Street and Payne Street. The struck vehicle, an unoccupied 2019 Ford Edge received moderate disabling damage to the front end.
• At the 1800 Block of South Street and Broadway police stopped a vehicle for poor driving at 1:13 a.m. Sunday. The 71-year-old woman from Chanhassen showed signs of impairment. During sobriety testing she began yelling profanities and became combative. She was transported to jail.
• Monday at 1:28 p.m. a 67-year-old New Ulm man drove through a T-intersection on Bridge Street and crashed his 2014 Ford Explorer into a utility pole. The vehicle received moderate damages. No damage done to the utility pole.
• Police responded to Smiley's Tavern Monday at 9:56 p.m. for a disturbance report. A 42-year-old New Ulm man was repeatedly asked to leave the bar and refused. Officers transported the man to detox. Smiley's Tavern will be issuing a trespassing notice to the man.
