New Ulm Police
•Police stopped a vehicle 8:32 pm Tuesday at Highway 14 and Garden Street for an equipment violation. Signs of impairment were detected from the driver, a 55-year-old women from Sleepy Eye. Due to the women not cooperating with the breath test at the stop, a search warrant was obtained for her blood. She was transported to the New Ulm Medical Center where the sample was obtained. She was then transported to the Brown County Jail. Once the blood test results are learned, a copy of the report will be sent to the City Attorney for the consideration of DWI charges.
• Police responded to a trespassing complaint at 9:02 a.m. Thursday at the Harmony Inn. A 27-year-old male from Fulda slipped into an unlocked hotel room without paying for it. Officers arrived and needed to use a bolt cutter to cut the chain to enter the room. The male was uncooperative and was arrested and transported to jail. A copy of the report was sent to the County Attorney for, 2nd degree burglary, theft of services, criminal damage to property, trespass and obstructing legal process.
Belle Plaine Police Department
• Shianne Lee Escobar was arrested b the Belle Plaine Police Department on a Brown County warrant during a traffic stop at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday. Brown County filled a complaint warrant on Escobar for two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the deaths of Paul and Paulette Rewitzer, Saturday, Aug. 29. Escobar was taken to the Scott County Jail and is awaiting transport to Brown County.
