HANSKA - Two Hanska residents are dead and a third is facing two counts of vehicular homicide following a vehicle crash early Saturday.
Shortly after midnight Saturday, Brown County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) received a report of a two vehicle crash on Brown County Road 13, just North of Brown County Road 22.
Brown County Deputy Erik Byro arrived at the scene at noticed two heavily damaged vehicles, a Chevy Silverado and an Oldsmobile. The driver of the Silverado, Shianne Lee Escobar, 28, of Hanska was standing outside the Oldsmobile.
Byro found two occupants in the Oldsmobile, later identified as Paul Rewitzer, 73 and Paulette Rewitzer, 74. Both were deceased.
According to a complaint warrant filed by Brown County Attorney's Office, Escobar stated she had been returning to her residence in Hanska after leaving a bar in New Ulm.
Byro asked Escobar how much she had to drink and she said that was a question for her lawyer.Escobar was ultimately transported to New Ulm Medical Center.
Byro submitted a search warrant to obtain a sample of Escobar's blood.
Monday, the Brown County Attorney's Office filed a complaint warrant for two counts of criminal vehicular homicide for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol are continuing to investigate the vehicle crash.
