New Ulm Police

• Responded to a theft report at 8:22 a.m. Thursday at Kwik Trip South, 1521 S. Broadway. A 24-year-old New Ulm man was cited for stealing a liter bottle of Dr. Pepper valued at $3. He was given a trespass warning. A report was done for documentation.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday on the 54000 block of CR 10 (256th St.), Transit Township, three miles north of Winthrop. It was learned that Jeffrey Albrecht Jr., 36, Mankato, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 eastbound on CR 10 when it left the road, entered the westbound ditch and collided with a driveway embankment. Albrecht was transported by ambulance to a hospital, then flown to a Twin Cities hospital with severe injuries. Vehicle damage was heavy. Winthrop and Gaylord Ambulance, Winthrop firefighters and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted.
