New Ulm Police
• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old New Ulm man at at Minnesota St. and 15th St. S. at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report for consideration of driving after cancellation-IPS (inimical to public safety) and no proof of insurance was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old New Ulm man at 2015 S. Broadway at 3:58 p.m. Sunday for driving after cancellation-IPS. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was sent to the city attorney’s office.
• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old New Ulm man for driving after cancellation-IPS at Broadway and 16th St. N. at 10:22 p.m. Sunday. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the city attorney’s office and Brown County Probation.
• Responded to a juvenile trouble report at 8:38 a.m. Monday at Riverbend Area Learning Center, 1315 S. Broadway. A 10-year-old boy was transported to New Ulm Medical Center and placed on mental hold. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for violent threat charge consideration.
• A school resource officer transported a 13-year-old female middle school student determined to be under the influence to New Ulm Medical Center. A report went to Brown County Human Services.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries in the Highway 14/Highland Ave. roundabout at 2:15 p.m. Friday. Austin Whitcup, 25, Sleepy Eye, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Express southbound that collided with the driver’s side of a 2023 Buick Encore driven by Bonnie Viland, 92, no city listed, who was eastbound. Damage was minor to the Chevrolet front bumper and moderate to the driver’s side doors of the Buick. Both drivers wore seat belts.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a civil dispute report at 8:11 p.m. Sunday on CR 2, rural Springfield. A 42-year-old Springfield woman and a 46-year-old Lamberton man were having child custody issues. A report was done for documentation.
Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a personal injury crash on CR 6 near CR 102, rural Lake Crystal at 3:17 p.m. Saturday. Douglas George Pelzel, 75, Sleepy Eye, was driving a 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on CR 6 with Denise Ann Walter, 60, Sleepy Eye, as a passenger. It appeared Pelzel lost control and drove off the right side of the road. He was airlifted with critical injuries. Walter was transported from the scene with serious injuries. Neither party wore a helmet. The Minnesota State Patrol, Mayo and Lake Crystal Ambulance and Courtland Fire Dept. assisted. The crash is under investigation.
