New Ulm Police

• Stopped a vehicle at Broadway and 13th St. N. at 11:37 p.m. Friday. A 58-year-old Prior Lake man was cited for petty misdemeanor open cannabis package in a motor vehicle.

• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 1:08 a.m. Saturday at Franklin St. S. and 2nd St. S. The driver, a 37-year-old New Ulm woman, displayed impairment signs, was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail for further tests. Shew as booked into jail and cited for 4th-degree DWI. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.

• Took an assault report at 10:03 p.m. Saturday at the Party by the Pond event, Somsen St. and Berens Blvd. A 32-year-old woman said she was punched in the face by a 48-year-old Le Sueur man who she knows. An ambulance was sent to the scene but the woman was not transported. The man said he was punched first by the woman and that the woman’s father, a 53-year-old New Ulm man, pulled a knife on him. No injuries were seen on the Le Sueur man and he said he didn’t want charges pursued. A report for assault charges on the man went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Took a call at 9:02 a.m. Monday from a 73-year-old New Ulm woman who said she had fraudulent charges on her TJ Maxx, Sam’s Club and Amazon Chase cards. All three companies cancelled her cards and refunded her $1,620.35. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a bad check report from a business at 1:04 p.m. Monday. Twenty-one items were purchased Aug. 16 for a total of $920.71 by the suspect, a 67-year-old Mankato woman. The business was provided a notice and demand for payment of a dishonored check to send the woman. If she does not respond to the letter, the business will contact police for further action.

• Responded to a report of a father who wanted to report an assault. A 51-year-old New Ulm man said his 15-year-old daughter is being assaulted by her boyfriend. Police talked with the girl and observed multiple bruises on her face, neck and arms. The girl said she and her boyfriend role play, causing both to bruise. The boyfriend, a 17-year-old New Ulm boy, told police a similar story. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Police arrested a 46-year-old New Ulm woman on a Brown County warrant. She was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was done for documentation.

• Took an HRO (harassment restraining order) report from a 36-year-old New Ulm woman against her ex-husband, a 48-year-old man, address unknown. The woman said she received a text message from the man. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.

Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a crash report at 3:49 p.m. Friday on TH 14 and Victory Drive, Mankato. Darlene Sharon Filzen, 57, New Ulm, was driving a 2012 Honda CRV westbound on Highway 14 when another vehicle merged onto the Highway 14 left lane, causing Filzen to enter the ditch and hit a cross over embankment. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Filzen wore a seat belt and alcohol was not involved. Mankato Police and Fire, Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Ambulance assisted.
