New Ulm Police

• Stopped a vehicle for erratic driving at TH 14 and Nicollet CR 37 at 8:46 p.m. Friday. Impairment signs were detected from the driver, a 66-year-old Courtland woman. She was arrested for DWI and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the Nicollet County Attorney’s Office.

• Stopped a vehicle for speeding at 2:08 a.m. Saturday at Broadway and 10th St. N. Impairment signs were detected from the driver, a 16-year-old Winthrop male. He was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail for more testing. He was later released to his mother. A passenger, a 16-year-old Lafayette male also consumed alcohol. Reports went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for under age 21 drinking and driving, DWI, underage consumption and underage cannabis possession.

• Took a Saturday skip scanning report involving $554.51 worth of Walmart merchandise at 4:43 p.m. Sunday involving a 39-year-old Mankato woman. A report went to investigators.

• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 12;35 a.m. Monday at Broadway and 8th St. N. and Broadway. The driver, a 48-year-old New Ulm man admitted to using meth 3 or 4 days ago. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to New Ulm Medical Center for a blood test. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of 5th-degree drug possession and driving after suspension.

• Talked to a 39-year-old New Ulm woman at 6:22 p.m. Monday who wanted to report a possible HRO violation against the father of her children, a 42-year-old New Ulm man. She said he yelled at her when she dropped off the children at his residence. The man denied yelling at the woman. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a skip scanning report at 8:46 p.m. Monday at Walmart involving a 26-year-old Sleepy Eye woman using self checkout. The woman skip scanned $1,027.24 13 times from June 11 to Aug 9. A report went to the county attorney’s office.

• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Springfield woman with a Redwood County warrant at 9:14 p.m. Monday on 5th Street North. The woman was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was done for documentation.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a report of a drain tile worker trapped in a trench after a wall collapsed on him in Transit Township, four miles northeast of Winthrop at 10:31 a.m. Tuesday. Nicholas Harvey, 24, Buffalo, was freed by other employees and extracted from a trench by emergency personnel. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. Winthrop Fire/Police/Ambulance and Gaylord Ambulance assisted.
