State Patrol

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash with non life-threatening injuries at 8:17 a.m. Feb. 17 on snow and ice on State Highway 60/County Road 5, Butterfield Township, Watonwan County. A 1999 Buick Century driven by Brady D. Portillo, 19, Ormsby, was southbound on County Road 5, crossed Highway 60 and collided with a 2003 Honda Civic driven by Laura J. Sandmeyer, 53, Windom, who was eastbound on Highway 60. Sandmeyer was transported to St. James Hospital. Portillo was not injured. Both drivers wore seat belts. The St. James Fire Department, Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office and Mountain Lake Ambulance assisted.

New Ulm Police

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3rd South and Minnesota Street at 5:11 p.m. Feb. 16. A 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Fidencio Perez-Acosta, 50, Sleepy Eye, was westbound on 3rd South and struck a parked trailer on the 400 block of 3rd South. Perez-Acosta wore a seat belt but had a possible injury, said his right side hurt somewhat, but said he was fine and refused medical treatment and would go to the hospital on his own if needed. Damage was minor to the Mitsubishi. There was no visible damage to the trailer.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash without injuries on snow-covered roads on the 1400 block of South Broadway at 11:57 a.m. Feb. 17. A 2010 Chevrolet driven by Isabel Tigre, 17, Ivanhoe, went out of control and hit a left turn lane sign, knocking it over. There was moderate left front damage to the vehicle.

• Received a theft report from a 79-year-old Sleepy Eye woman who left a credit card at Walmart Supercenter, New Ulm Tuesday afternoon. It was learned that the credit card was used to spend more than $1,000 at Walmart Supercenter, Cashwise Foods, Smokes Plus and New Ulm Tobacco. A report was sent to police investigators.

Brown County Sheriff’s Office

• Received a theft report from a residence on County Road 10, Home Township, at 6:16 p.m. Feb. 16. The report said vehicle catalytic converters, batteries and a tool box were stolen. A value estimate was not available.
