New Ulm Police
• Responded to an harassment call at 6:44 p.m. Feb. 7 from a 57-year-old New Ulm man on the 600 block of Washington St. N. who reported receiving threatening texts from someone claiming to be from the MS-13 cartel, demanding $1,300 be sent to him. The suspect texted photos of people appearing to be decapitated and tortured. The man did not send any money to the texter.
• Responded to a disturbance at 620 1/2 1st St. N. at8:25 pm. Feb. 7 a.m. involving a 34-year-old New Ulm man yelling derogatory comments outside a 37-year-old New Ulm woman's apartment. The woman is seeking an Harassment Restraining Order (HRO). A report was sent to Brown County Probation.
• Responded to a call from a 38-year-old New Ulm woman claiming a 19-year-old New Ulm man was violating an HRO at New Ulm Mobile Village at 11:17 a.m. Feb. 8. A report will be sent to the New Ulm City Attorney's Office or Brown County Attorney's Office.
• Responded to a report of an 18-year-old New Ulm male who threatened to harm himself at 1:32 p.m. Feb. 8 on the first block of Jefferson St. S. The male party volunteered to go to New Ulm Medical Center to seek treatment.
Springfield Police
• A resident reported at 11:14 a.m. Feb. 8 that a Florida bank opened a credit card account in his name that he did not authorize. He learned about it when he applied for something else and learned his credit was flagged for an unauthorized action. He did not lose any money.
