Air Force disciplines 15 as IG finds that security failures led to leak
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Air Force has disciplined 15 personnel in connection with the massive classified documents leak by an airman earlier this year, concluding that multiple officials intentionally failed to take required action on his suspicious behavior, the Air Force inspector general reported Monday. Massachusetts Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira is accused of leaking highly classified military from the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base in Massachusetts where he worked. The punitive actions range from relieving personnel from their positions, including command positions, to non-judicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Brain sample from Maine gunman to be examined for injury
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- A tissue sample from the brain of a gunman who killed 18 people and injured 13 others in Maine has been sent to a lab in Massachusetts to be examined for signs of injury or trauma related to his service in the Army Reserves, officials said Monday. The state's chief medical examiner wants to know if a brain injury stemming from 40-year-old Robert Card's military service could have contributed to unusual behavior he exhibited leading up to the Oct. 25 shootings at a bowling alley and at a bar in Lewiston . A spokesperson for the medical examiner's office characterized the extra step as a matter of thoroughness "due to the combined history of military experience and actions."
Snowfall, rain, gusty winds hit Northeast as Tennessee recovers from tornadoes

The National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings through the evening as snow fell across Vermont and northern New York, where up to 10 inches of snow could accumulate. The weather service said that snowfall rates of an inch an hour were possible. Many schools were closed in Vermont.

US is restricting visas for nearly 300 Guatemalan lawmakers
MIAMI (AP) -- The Biden administration announced on Monday that it would impose visa restrictions on nearly 300 Guatemalan lawmakers, private sector leaders and their families it accuses of "undermining democracy and the rule of law." Guatemala faces mounting criticism by world leaders and watchdogs accusing it of attempts to block progressive president-elect Bernardo Arévalo from taking office in January. The victory of Arévalo and his Seed Movement party is seen as a threat to those who have long wielded power in Guatemala.
