The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce stopped at Firmenich to meet the new director of operations. Terry Kuechle, a Minneapolis native, has a lot of experience in the food industry. He has worked at Hormel foods in both Austin, and Chicago, IL. He was also with Smithfield for some time, recently running the St. James location. Kuechle has adjusted well to Firmenich, which is the world largest privately-owned fragrance and flavor company, creating fragrances and flavors for the world’s most desirable brands. Among the many brands that Firmenich produces products for are Coke, Pepsi, Yankee Candle and Proctor & Gamble. The company estimates that 8 million people worldwide touch a product flavored by Firmenich on a daily basis. The New Ulm plant is currently undergoing an expansion, which will increase production capacity and add roughly 15 new jobs to their current 110 employees.
