Park & Recreation schedule

• MEA weekend events, Thursday, October 15: open gym and playground from 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the SouthPoint Recreation and Wellness Center, General Open Hockey from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Open Skate from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Civic Center. Friday, Oct.16: open gym and playground from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Open Swim 1 to 6:30 p.m. at the SouthPoint Recreation and Wellness Center, General Open Hockey and Open Skate from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Civic Center.

•Barkin' in the Park is Saturday, October 17 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the New Ulm Dog Park, 601 S German St. This will be a special event for dog owners featuring a photo contest, drawings, prize baskets, pup cup creation station, activities, crafts for kids. Partners for this event are Runnings and Pups Playland.

• Floating Pumpkin Patch - Sunday, Oct. 18. Search the pool's patch for the perfect pumpkin from 12 to 2 p.m. (plus swim around in the shallow pools), then take it to the decorating station and deck it out with all sorts of fun items. Games and activities included and regular open swim resumes 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $10/child (or just $5/child for those with membership) and $9/adult and includes admission to the facility for that day.

•Swim Club and Swim Lessons - new sessions start October 20. Register online to participate!

•Adult Volleyball Leagues registration is open. League play starting in November.

•Youth Tennis starts Nov. 3. The program is designed to teach fundamentals to beginners and build games skills. All equipment is provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own racquet.

•Open Volleyball is offered daily at the SouthPoint Recreation and Wellness Center through MEA weekend.

•Friday Night Lites Skate weekend glow party on ice is back. Kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $6 ages 5 and up. Skate rentals available for $3. October dates: Friday, October 23 and 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.

• Park and Rec offesr a structured after school care program called Herbie's Hangout at the SouthPoint Recreation and Wellness Center. Pre-registration is required. Open Gym (drop in) every day, Open swim Wednesdays 4 to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 4-6:30 p.m. We offer open skate at the Civic Center Tuesdays 3:30 to 5 p.m.

•Tot Swim is a special swim time offered to for the littles to enjoy time with their grown up in the shallow pool. These special swims are Wednesday mornings from 9-10:15 a.m. Cost is $3 per tot.

• Tot Gym is special time in the gym for the littles to burn off energy. These are offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-10:30 a.m. Cost is $3 per tot and includes admission to the indoor playground.

•SouthPoint Recreation and Wellness Center hours

Monday thru Thursday open 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Friday open 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•Open swim Hours: Wednesday (half pool) 4-6:30 p.m., Friday (full pool) 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
