NEW ULM– The League of Women Voters (LVW) New Ulm will host a candidate forum for candidates for House District 15B and Senate District 15 at 6:30 p.m. October 7.
A tentative forum for New Ulm City Council Ward 4 will be held 6:30 p.m. October 21 if two or more candidates announce their intention to seek the office as write-in candidates.
The League of Women Voters hosts these events to bring candidates together with voters for a discussion of the issues most affecting our region. On Election Day, the voters' decisions affect all aspects of our lives. Candidate forums are designed to create opportunities for voters to hear directly from candidates so voters are informed before they vote.
These forums are free and open to the public. The forums will be broadcast on New Ulm Community Access Television, YouTube and KNUJ Radio.
The MN House District 15B forum will included candidates Geri Theis and Keith Klawitter. The Senate 15B forum will include candidates Andrea Boettger and Braxton Seifert.
Voters have two opportunities to submit questions to the candidates. Written questions will be accepted throughout the forum from audience members. Voters may submit questions at any time by email to lwvnewulm@lwvmn.org.
By League of Women Voter policy, the identity of persons asking questions will be kept confidential.
The League of Women Voters New Ulm does not support or oppose candidates for office or political parties. LWV is a 501(c)3 political organization that encourages informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Membership is open to all. Membership information will also be available at the Candidate Forums.
