Park & Rec

•Thursday, Oct. 17 Open gym all day and open swim with inner tubes 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rec Center. Open hockey 11:45 a.m.-1:15 and open skate 12-3 p.m. at the Civic Center. Friday Oct. 18 Tot Gym 9-10:30 a.m. with bounce house, open gym all day and full pool open swim from 2 to 8 p.m.; Ninja Cross down 2 to 5 p.m. and other swim activities from 5-8 p.m.

•Large Dog Park now open with a shelter.

•Park Restrooms and picnic shelters are n closed for the season.

•Recreational Trail Patching is starting at North Highland Avenue/CSAH 13 and working south towards 23rd North Street. Areas of the trail that are removed will be patched back within the same day. Work will progress south each day and end at 3rd South Street. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 25.

•Broadleaf Control spraying in the parks is taking place in the next two weeks. The public is advised to exercise caution with children and pets. Sprayed areas will be flagged.

•Adult Volleyball League registration is open. Register online or at the Rec Center. Women’s League plays Wednesday nights, Co-rec plays Thursday nights November to March.

•The Great Painted Pumpkin Contest is open for registration. Open to ages 6-18 with three age divisions of competition. The cost is $5 residents, $5.50 non-residents. Decorate a pumpkin with provided supplies on October 16. Voting on the best pumpkin will be at the Rec Center and on Facebook Oct 17-24. Winners will be announced Oct. 25 and receive a Halloween goody bag. Register online at newulmmn.gov by October 9.

•The Floating Pumpkin Patch is Sunday, Oct. 20 from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Park and Rec. Center. The Rec. Center will have a floating pumpkin patch in the pool for participants to pick out and decorate at special decorating stations. Admission is $10 per child or $5 with membership and $9 daily admission (or free with membership).

•Swim club’s next session runs Tuesday and Thursday October 22 through November 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Register online at newulmmn.gov

•Tot Swim is offered Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Zero depth area only and children must be within arms reach of an adult. Admission is $3 per child with 12-Punch card available for $27.

•Tot Gym is offered Monday and Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m. to burn off energy and play with our fun equipment!

•Red Cross Lifeguard Training is offered throughout the year, based on participant interest/schedule. Contact Aquatics and Fitness Coordinator bend@newulmmn.gov to get on the list. Certified Lifeguards make a difference in people’s lives and promote team work in a fun setting.

•Hermann Monument is closed for the season.
