SLEEPY EYE — Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen and Minnesota Pollution Control Commissioner Katrina Kessler will attend the final Policy at the Pub & the Agriculture Trivia Night for 2024. The event will be held at the Sleepy Eye Brewing Co. at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4.
"One of the most important opportunities Farm Bureau offers is the chance to engage and dialogue with elected leaders and public officials," said Jill Nelson, Brown County Farm Bureau President. "Creating these relationships is helpful to ensure we share a vision of the best way forward for future generations. We are pleased these two officials and some of their staff will be here to engage with area agriculturalists,."
Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture Thom Petersen was appointed by Governor Walz in 2019 and reappointed in 2023. Katrina Kessler was appointed Commissioner of the MPCA in November of 2021, she had previously served as the assistant commissioner for water policy and agriculture. She has a Master of Science in environmental engineering from the University of Minnesota. Loren Dauer, MFBF Public Policy Specialist will also provide a brief end of session summary.
The event is free to those involved in agriculture including farmers and those employed or involved in area agri-business. Pizza will be served, and the event features a friendly round of agriculture trivia and a chance to network with fellow agriculturalists.
