League of Women Voters energy forum series continues

NEW ULM – The League of Women Voters (LWV) conservation forum series will continue this April with three different speaker events at the New Ulm Public Library.

The first forum will be held 7 p.m. Thursday April 4. The event will feature two speakers on the topic of energy rebates. Derek Nelson with New Ulm Public Utilities will talk on the different rebates, incentives and solar buyback programs offered the NUPU. Turner Hall executive director Andrea Boettger will speak on her experiences working with public utilities during the upgrades and renovations; including Turner Hall’s saving and rebates options.

Thursday, April 11 Mark Lindquist, Sustainability coordinator with the DNR will discuss the basics of solar and passive solar power. The talk will include the cost and returns of using solar power as well as the permit and zoning requirements.

Thursday, April 18 representatives from Gag Plumbing will lead a talk on the best options for energy savings for plumbing and heating for different types of homes.
