New Ulm Public Library is excited to present a highly interactive program for kids and families.
Siama Matuzungidi and Dallas Johnson invite everyone on a journey to The Land of Yangalele. Matuzungidi sings and plays acoustic guitar, mbira and balafon while singer Johnson narrates stories and encourages everyone to sing catchy songs together in Kikongo and Lingala under a big imaginary sky brimming with stars.
The program is designed for kids but delights audiences of all ages, providing an immersive way to experience the community-centered, celebratory nature of rural African music and culture.
This program takes place 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 in the library meeting room and is free and open to the public.
This program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the
Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
