Cathedral High School student ranked as Commended Student in 2024 national Merti competition

Cathedral High School student Jared Gleisner was recognized as a Commended Student by National Merti Scholarship Corporation.

NEW ULM -- Cathedral High School student Jared Gleisner was recognized as a Commended Student by National Merti Scholarship Corporation.

Each year, National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses the PSAT/NMSQT scores of students taken during their junior year for consideration of National Merit Scholarship.

This year, around 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recocognized for their exceptional academic promise. Gleisner achieving Commended Student status places him among the top 50,000 students entering the competition.

A letter of commendation was submitted to Cathedral in honor of Gleisner's achievement. In the letter a spokesperson for NMSC said, "Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic succes. These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their school play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
