NEW ULM - Every student and teacher connected with New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUAC) took part in the school's Marathon walk, Wednesday.
The NUACS Marching Band led both schools -- St. Anthony Elementary and Cathedral High School -- down Washington Street toward the Civic Center and then circling back to the school on State Street.
NUACS volunteer Andrea Lynn the Marathon Walk is a tradition associated the school's fundraising efforts. For the last two weeks, students have been fundraising for the school.
Lynn said this was a big part of what help keep the school going, but the Marathon Walk was another way to bring the schools together.
"All the students take part in the walk from St. Anthony and Cathedral," she said. "It is rare to have them all come together like this."
This year's Marathon Walk was extra special for the school because this year the school had no homecoming parade. For the first time in many years, CHS was forced to cancel its homecoming parade due to rain.
The Marathon Walk was not the same as full parade through the New Ulm Community, but Lynn said they were grateful for the chance to unite as one, even if it was for a short walk around the block.
