NEW ULM -- Living up to its mission, the New Ulm Sertoma Club served up Santa Claus, an elf, live music, sweet corn, burgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken and all the corn you could eat at the Brown County Fairgrounds Tuesday.

Event proceeds are the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Sertoma Club's Santa's Closet program that provides toys to hundreds of Brown County families around Christmas in the former New Ulm armory.

Santa's Closet was founded in 1975 by Brown County Family Services. The Sertoma Club took it over in 1985.

The Sertoma Club also helps those with hearing loss and others in need. The club contributes to the cost of equipment and technology to serve the hearing impaired, provide financial support to various camps for children with hearing impairments and other disabilities.

Other Sertoma service projects include ditch clean-up, planting flowers in Broadway flower boxes and advocating for hearing protection with national hearing-loss education and awareness.
