Seven file for three Winthrop City Council seats

Last-minute filing Tuesday give voters more choices

NEW ULM -- Two Winthrop City Council candidates filed for election late Tuesday afternoon creating a seven-way race for three council member seats.

Jacki Kruggel and Pam Rolf filed for city council member late Tuesday, joining Bradley Bodecker, Randy Krienke, Jay Shields, Dawn Wickenhauser and Tom Witucki who filed a week or two earlier.

Winthrop voters have a choice of mayoral candidates too. Challenger Mark Santelman filed Monday and will face incumbent Julie Trebelhorn on election day.

Fairfax City Councilor James J. Schroeder filed for mayor Tuesday and is the only candidate to do so. Fairfax Mayor Josh Bunkers did not refile.

Craig Nachreiner filed for a Fairfax City Council seat Tuesday, joining Chase Hermes Bakken and Jesse Diehn who filed earlier.

Franklin City Councilor Matthew Mumme filed Tuesday, joining Franklin City Councilor Wesley Lund who earlier refiled for office.

Lamberton City Councilor David G. Irlbeck refiled Tuesday. Samantha Schottenbauer filed Tuesday, joining Norman Bednar and Matthew Lenning who filed for a special election for council member.

In Mulligan Township, Brown County, Brad Augustin filed Tuesday for Seat C Town Supervisor. Mike Windschitl filed July 14 for Mulligan Township Seat A Town Supervisor. Lynn Schroepfer filed July 14 for Mulligan Township Town Treasurer.

Ashley Heibel and Andrew Van Nurden filed Tuesday for Cedar Mountain School Board, joining Joshua Hoffmann and Jeffrey Sorensen who earlier filed for three open school board seats.

New Ulm Public School Board (Dist. 88) candidate Casie S. Miller, who submitted an affidavit of candidacy Tuesday, filed an affidavit of withdrawal Thursday. The withdrawal left three candidates seeking school board seats -- Steven Gag, Tara Nilson and Melissa Sunderman.
