NEW ULM -- A flurry of last-minute filings for elections took place as the candidate filing period ended at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A number of election races sprung up in area communities.
In New Ulm, Casie Miller submitted a last-minute affidavit of candidacy for school board, joining Steven Gag, Melissa Sunderman and Tara Nilson who earlier filed for school board. With Miller joining the school board race there are now four candidates seeking three school board seats.
In Cobden, Allen Krebs filed for mayor. Rhonda Groebner filed for city councilor and Melissa Krebs for city clerk.
In Comfrey Mayor Gary Richter refiled for mayor. Darlene Arnsdorf, Alan Barnes, Charles Coners, Rick J. Kastner and Troy Toll filed for two city councilor seats.
In Courtland, Al Poehler and Jeremy Brennan filed for mayor. Three individuals filed for two councilor at large seats -- Greg Juberian, Tim Portner and Pamela Rodewald.
Jason Schroeder filed for Courtland Township Supervisor Seat A, Brian Fischer for Seat B and Greta Schugel filed for Courtland Township town treasurer.
In Fairfax, Chase Hermes Bakken and Jesse Diehn filed for two city council seats.
In Franklin, Corey Gruendemann filed for mayor, Wesley Lund filed for one of two open city council seats.
In Gibbon, Steve Klukas filed for mayor, Rachel Holmquist and Roger Tabbert filed for two city council seats.
In Hanska, Daniel K. Paulson filed for mayor, Ian Kjelshus and Lucas Larson filed for two city council seats.
In Lafayette, Sandra Peterson and Curt Tauber filed for mayor. Tom Polich, Joshua Fischer, David L. Reed, Mark Schuelke filed for two city council seats. Jeff Schwermann filed for Seat 1, Lafayette Township; Chad Hoffmann for Seat 3.
In Lamberton, Leah Bittner and Jason Bradtke filed for mayor. Ross Gieseke filed for city councilor. Norman Bedner and Matthew Lenning filed for a council member special election.
In Morgan, Mayor Beth Christensen refiled for office. City councilors Adam Bickhardt and Dan Christensen refiled and Gayle McLeod filed to challenge them for two council seats.
In Redwood Falls, Dennie Moore and Tom Quackenbush filed for mayor. Denise Castle and Jim Sandgren filed for councilor at large, Larry Arendtson filed for a Ward 3 council seat.
In Ridgely Township, Gerald Domeier filed for town supervisor, Chad S. Forst filed for Seat B town supervisor and Louette Nosbush filed for town clerk.
In Sleepy Eye Incumbent Nathan Stevermer refiled for Sleepy Eye council member at large. Douglas G. Pelzel filed for Ward 1 Councilor, Gary Windschitl for Ward 2 Councilor.
In Springfield, Jeanette Pidde, Joe Miesen and Ashlyn Hansen filed for council member at large. Scott Oltmans filed for Springfield Township Town Supervisor Seat C. Geof Johnson filed for Springfield Township Town Treasurer.
In Winthrop, Julie Trebelhorn and Mark Santelman filed for mayor. Bradley Bodecker, Randy Krienke, Jay Shields, Dawn Wickenhauser, Tom Witucki filed for three Winthrop City Council seats.
In Comfrey, Brandon Anderson, Gabe Hirsch and Andrea Toll filed for three school board seats.
In Sleepy Eye, Mikayla Bruggeman, Brian Nelson, Steve Peterson, Sheila Wurtzberger filed for four school board seats.
In Springfield, Jeff Kretsch, Jessica Potter, Victor A. Thatcher filed for three school board seats.
In Buffalo Lake-Hector Stewart, Jason DeRock, Kaitlyn Frederickson, David Vacek filed for three school board seats.
In Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop, Kenneth Briese, Casey Prochniak filed for a Gibbon district seat George Grosam for a Fairfax seat and Emille Stehr for a Winthrop district seat.
In Cedar Mountain, Joshua Hoffmann, Jeffrey Sorenson for three school board seats.
In the Red Rock District, Megan Imker, Madelaine Posusta filed for a District 1 seat; Bruce Grant, District 2 and Jacob Wahl, District 3.
In the Redwood Area School District, Meghann Kodet, Andrew Lueck, Derek Woodford and Sarah Myers filed for four school board seats.
