NU School board candidate filing opens July 14
Three seats up for election in 2026
New Ulm – Candidacy filing dates for the upcoming school board elections were established during ISD 88’s School Board meeting on Thursday.
Three members will be elected for terms of four years during November’s upcoming election.
The seats of incumbents Steve Gag, Amanda Groebner, and Melissa Sunderman are open, with their four-year terms coming to an end.
The filing window to run for school board will open on Tuesday, July 14 and last for two weeks, closing on Tuesday, July 28 at 5 p.m.
Affidavits of candidacy are available and can be filed at the school district clerk’s office in the New Ulm Middle School which can be accessed through door 1. Filing requires a $2 filing fee.
Eligibility for school board candidacy requires the candidate to be an eligible voter. Candidates must be 21 years of age or older by the time they would assume office. Residency within the school district must be maintained, beginning at minimum 30 days prior to seeking election. Candidates cannot file affidavits for any other office during this or the next general election, barring authorization by Minnesota Statutes, section 204B. 06, subdivision 9.
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
