Highway 14 crash injures teenager

SLEEPY EYE — A 17-year-old male teenager was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 west of Sleepy Eye reported at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A 1976 Chevrolet pickup driven by the teenager was southbound on 160th Street when it collided with a 2021 Kenworth straight truck driven westbound on Highway 14 by Carlos Joel Mendez Padilla, 45, St. Paul.
The teenager was transported to Sleepy Eye Medical Center.
Other responding agencies included the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield and Sleepy Eye Police and Springfield Emergency Medical Services. The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed Highway 14 and directed traffic around the crash before reopening the highway at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
