Brown County burning ban until further notice
NWS issues Red Flag Warning for southern, central Minnesota
NEW ULM — The Brown County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) issued a burning ban effective at 8 a.m. Tuesday for all of Brown County until further notice.
No open burning of CRP (Conservation Reserve Program) land and/or ditches or brush piles is permitted according to the BCSO news release.
Recreational campfires are permitted but must be contained in a ring of rock, cement, brick or metal, must not be closed than 25 feet to any structure and be attended to. Charcoal grills, wood smokers, propane and natural gas devices are not considered open burning.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning Tuesday, meaning conditions are ideal for wildlife combustion and rapid spread for southern Minnesota including Brown County, and for central Minnesota due to strong winds, low humidity and dry conditions said to lead to critical fire danger.
